Iron & Wine “Love Vigilantes”

The rumble of the busses passing, the street walkers, late-night bicyclists and quiet music from my computer has become quite comforting.  Los Angeles, love affair.

The second out of four lyric videos that I produced/directed/edited for Never Shout Never on Warner Bros. Records is online. FYI: it’s abstract… a relationship is only “cute” for so long.

I’m a traveler and a dweller of the downtown. I’m a dreamer. I’m an activist and an artist. I enjoy the comfort of others, but cannot describe the true thrill of being alone. Who are you?

Introduce yourself in the comments, even if it is anonymous. I’d like to finally see who surrounds me.

Check out this lyric video that I shot (produced, directed, shot and edited) for Never Shout Never!  Special thanks to my brother, Hayley and Steph for their help on turning around this production so fast.  Now it is time to find all of our cameos…

One of the live videos that I directed for Band of Skulls is on YouTube.  Check it out:

Band of Skulls “Light of the Morning”

Moving into my new place in one week has come with a ridiculous amount of responsibility, research, telephone conversations, shopping, etc.  When I was just getting used to updating this thing as often as I could, I fell off – only for the better.  The past couple of weeks have been extremely healthy for me – I took some more time off of work after getting back from Europe and have been forced to be much more selective with the work and projects that I take on. Extremely exciting things are happening to take me to the next level as a filmmaker – things that I cannot announce just yet – but will soon.

I’ve also spent a great deal of time with The Motley.  The Motley – which started as an idea that came from a dream that woke me up in the middle of the night about a year ago  has become a full functioning company.  Our staff has been working non-stop to expand the company and improve sales to make us a profiting company (which I have no doubt will come within the next year…)  In the near future, we’ll also be bringing on some new teams to expand our sales and PR efforts – so that is incredibly exciting as well.

As for me – I’m living.  Living more than I have in the past four years.  It feels incredible.  Go outside and feel the Southern California sun.

A couple months ago, I helped a few friends and a band called Honey Child film an acoustic video for their song “Tijuana” in their Echo Park practice space.  The jam session was pretty incredible.  Take a look…

I’ve had many exciting things happen to me over the last year, but the most exciting – and by far the most surreal – is the closing of a six-month long battle to gain ownership over a property in Downtown Los Angeles’s historic core district.  I’m proud to say I became the owner of a renovated historic loft at 3rd and Broadway today.

It is in one of the oldest buildings in downtown and is directly across the street from the Bradbury Building (LA’s most prized historic building and my favorite for its use in the last scene of 500 Days of Summer.)  This has been a work in progress for me for a couple of years now and I owe it to every incredible artist, company, video commissioner, and art director that I have worked with AND to all of my friends that have helped me along the way.  This will be a shared space of comfort and art – this is to all of you.  Cheers.
