This past year I took on an “almost dairy free” diet – meaning that if I saw dairy in the ingredients, I wouldn’t eat it. If it slipped in, oh well. I have absolutely no dairy in my house (sorry friends) and I’m pretty proud of that. Also, if you know me, you know that I don’t eat red meat. I was pretty fortunate to grow up disliking many of the things that make Americans sick (red meat, dairy, and salt mostly.) I indulge, however, in sugary fruits and anything packed with carbohydrates.

This year I’m going to try to take my diet a step further – eating 75% vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains and grain-like crops, 15% poultry and 10% irresistible carbs and products with unrefined sugars. I ate far too many carbohydrates and too much sugar before (I’m assuming accounting for nearly 50% of my diet) and I’m bringing that to a stop.

I’m not going to repress myself because I think that is unnecessary. If you have to repress yourself while trying to be healthy then you’re doing something wrong.

Life is in the seams, not necessarily in the fabric. Weather.com says that it is 48 degrees outside, but it feels like 70 after what it has been like lately. Premature Spring? I think not – rather a tease! I need to tell myself that it is just going to get shitty again.

I’m still looking forward to a sunny and green Spring Break. T-minus 3 1/2 weeks.
