Journal and Portfolio of Matthew Taylor Ruggieri

I’m a traveler and a dweller of the downtown. I’m a dreamer. I’m an activist and an artist. I enjoy the comfort of others, but cannot describe the true thrill of being alone. Who are you?

Introduce yourself in the comments, even if it is anonymous. I’d like to finally see who surrounds me.

Yesterday was my first day off from work in a couple of weeks so I’m spending the day outside.

Here is a groovy song that I came across for a fractured economy…

Emil & Friends – “Downed Economy”

“Hi Matt-
i’m really glad you chose to write about what you did.  Really greatlife lessons happen when you see something that’s in-line with other stuff you’re seeing and you need to make the connections.  Life is in the seams, not necessarily in the fabric.  Noticing the gaps, the transitions and the stitching makes us big, broad and can help us feel dwarfed by the immensity of it all ( a cool feeling…).
well-done, in other words.
grade: A (although that’s really irrelevant)”

1. My blog will now only be accessible via www.thisismatt.net (no more rockelmatt.wordpress.com).  It gives me more control over it.

2. I’m working on a new layout to accommodate future plans.

3. So it is going to look different very soon.

4. I’ve been doing a lot of coding, so bare with me (and I apologize if some features are down.)

4. It is exciting for me.  And totally worth it.

Weather.com says that it is 48 degrees outside, but it feels like 70 after what it has been like lately.  Premature Spring?  I think not – rather a tease!  I need to tell myself that it is just going to get shitty again.

I’m still looking forward to a sunny and green Spring Break.  T-minus 3 1/2 weeks.

The world-renowned saxophonist and Berklee College of Music alumnus, Branford Marsalis, talks about college students today. Quite interesting in an extremely blunt fashion, but very true:

If you haven’t heard of Feist, you’re definitely missing out on a great artist.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, she became huge after a national iPod commercial “1, 2, 3, 4…”   What you may not know is that her album offers a lot more than that brilliant track alone.  Now, I might write about some obscure indie rock music every once in a while, but Feist can do it for just about any listener in need of some mellow pop-rock with a twist.

It is extremely rare that I find a remix that I think is better than the actual song.  This remix is just electric.  It has been surfacing the internet for a while now, but I figured that I’d share with my blog readers.

Please note: I am not promoting illegal downloading.  Rather, I’m giving you all a chance to listen to the track.
