“I want my children to understand the world, but not just because the world is fascinating and the human mind is curious. I want them to understand it so that they will be positioned to make it a better place. Knowledge is not the same as morality, but we need to understand if we are to avoid past mistakes and move in productive directions. An important part of that understanding is knowing who we are and what we can do..” – Howard Gardner

The XX came out with such a good minimalist music video! I’m so mad I missed them at Coachella.

I’m a dreamer of the golden dream.
I’m a drifter of the western coast.
I’m a lover of the rock and roll.

If I could tell a proper lie, I’d say that things are always going to stay the same. At some point, a man has to do what is best for himself. 21 is right around the corner and so is the summer of 2010. Things are going to play out a bit differently from now on.

I can’t provide you with what you need.

I never thought that the day where I quote Marilyn Monroe would come…

“Hollywood is a place where they’ll
pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss
and fifty cents for your soul.”
-Marilyn Monroe

Though I’m incredibly awful at responding to e-mails, I do read everything that I receive. I got this complement in a message yesterday:

“That new photo you took of Josiah with the hat and the cigarette, for some reason I just love it more than any other.  I think when Josiah gets big, that’s going to be one of those iconic rock photos like the famous Annie Leibovitz Rolling Stone cover photo of John and Yoko or the Lynn Goldsmith photo of Patti Smith used on the Easter album cover.”

Anything comparing my photograph to Leibovitz’s cover of John and Yoko completely makes my day.

By the way, the limited prints of that photograph are still available for purchase!  Even though it is a run of 25, I’ll only be selling a couple more and will be saving the rest for future exhibitions.

“At the center of the Hollywood male image is the lonely drifter in a never-ending pursuit of home and a sense of belonging and acceptance.”
