Check out this music video for “When I Grow Up” by Fever Ray. The song is powerful and the video is absolutely stunning. The video was directed by Martin de Thurrah.

When I was photographing Evan Taubenfeld, one of his favorite photographs that I took involved himself and a porta potty.  He goes to no end to tell (and enact) jokes and never fails to have us laughing our heads off.  Even though our shoots tend to go twelve hours or more (and for some reason, I always miss some sort of family dinner), working with Evan is always a BLAST.  He’s bringing “badass” back and his album, With a Wink and a Smile, is coming out soon. So move out of the way JoBros and get ready to say hi to Evan Taubenfeld!!!

P.S. I’m going to take this time to say that “It’s Like That” is going to be HUGE.

“I could walk into fire as if to a wedding.” – Georges Bricusse

I had an incredible weekend at Bard and met a ton of awesome people.  I took so many pictures that I’m going to put them up in “phases”.  The urge to upload pictures is overwhelming, but I’m currently surrounded by taxes, invoices, essays, books of Africa and advertising and bibliographies.  Once I battle through my “to-do” list, I’ll be back!

Must Listen to:
The Clash “Train In Vain (DiscoTech Remix)”
Cat Power “Lived In Bars”

I’m going down to Bard College with my brother, Garrett, and friend, Miles, this weekend.  Bard is a liberal arts college on the Hudson River in upstate New York.  Garrett attended Bard last year, but transfered because it is in the absolute middle of nowhere.  Now he is studying neuroscience at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.  And you thought that all twins were the same…

I haven’t seen my brother since the 85° weather back home, so I’m excited.

The “must listen” for this weekend:
M83 “We Own The Sky”
The Heavenly States “Lost in the Light”

1. My blog will now only be accessible via www.thisismatt.net (no more rockelmatt.wordpress.com).  It gives me more control over it.

2. I’m working on a new layout to accommodate future plans.

3. So it is going to look different very soon.

4. I’ve been doing a lot of coding, so bare with me (and I apologize if some features are down.)

4. It is exciting for me.  And totally worth it.

If you want to finish your Valentine’s Day / President’s Day weekend off with a song that is beautiful beyond belief, give Johnathan Rice’s “The Acrobat” a listen.  Rice is one of the most underrated musicians that I have ever come across, not to mention, one of the most down to earth artists that I have ever worked with.  Go download it on iTunes on the Trouble Is Real EP or on his myspace: www.myspace.com/johnathanrice.
