The concept of “politically correct” behavior comes into play for me far too often nowadays, so I’m going to loosen up a bit and hope that my friends that read my blog won’t be the ones to rat me out…

I’m always told that I have the maturity of someone twice my age, the job of a college graduate, or the eye of an experienced photographer. Until recently, I didn’t understand the pressure that was placed upon myself because of these comments. The thought of living up to something that I’m teaching myself to be is wonderful, but I’m not quite fit for the shoes yet.

I’m nineteen and still interested in exploring. So the adventure began last Saturday night. After almost missing the entire Duke Spirit show at the Somerset House in London and a failed attempt at clubbing, we went back to the hotel and decided to get on a bus and go to a more lively part of town. On the bus, we were recognized as the heroic figures of MGMT and started some sort of Harold and Kumar adventure with drunk strangers that approached us.

Around three o’clock am, we achieved our first goal and ended up at Waterloo. We walked from Waterloo to the London Eye, hopped the fence to the river Thames, gave the Parliament some piece of mind and listened to Big Ben’s deep chime at the conclusion of every hour. The sun came up shortly after casting shadows and a photographic mirror image of the buildings on the river. The drunken lads started to disturb us, so we left them to take a cab back to the hotel around six-thirty am in time to make it back before the tourists came out.

Now, don’t get me wrong – I have no interest in living my life as a “immature kid,” but there is some exploration that is necessary for growth and I feel like I forced myself to skip past it years ago. It is fulfilling to experience some life every now and then.

Cheers to nineteen, cheers to Boston, and everything to come!

Talk to me about politics and reality.
