I tell you that I’ve never seen beauty before, so you grab my hand as I am forced to follow.
As we walk to the top of the mountain, my heart begins to sink. Not because I am depressed or angry, by any means, but because of the silence that I’ve never experienced. It’s beautiful. The moon’s shadow cast across the ground as if it was just a few feet away. The stars are suddenly brighter then they have ever been before. It was silent. You start to breathe.
I’ve never heard you breathe before. The bright lights, traffic jams and tall buildings in the city don’t allow me to feel the pounding. But we’re above that now. Nothing matters to us anymore. Nothing. I can feel your energy. But for once, it is real. And it is beautiful.
I feel different. I feel weird. You stare me in the eyes and I stare back. Silent.
You tell me not to find happiness in other people. I agree, as I’ve made that mistake countless times before. But, it is the moment that makes me smile.
Then I realized, that this is exactly what beauty is.
